Showing the quantity discount table on product pages

The quantity discount table shows customers your discount tiers on the product page: how many items to buy, the discount for each tier and the price they pay. It appears only on products that are in an active quantity discount campaign, and only for customers who get the discount.

The table's design, texts and placement are shared by all quantity discount campaigns. You set them up once in Widgets.

1. Configure the table content

Go to Widgets → Quantity discount table and click Customize.

Content. Edit the texts and choose layout options, such as whether to show total price or price per item.

For most of the widget texts, you can use variables such as {{quantity}} or {{price_per_item}}. You can see the available variables under each field.

Design. Adjust colors, font sizes, spacing, borders and corners to match your store.

Check the result in Preview.

The setup is different for Online Store 2.0 themes (most current Shopify themes) and vintage themes. Alpha Sale detects your theme type and shows the right options.

2a. Add the table in an Online Store 2.0 theme

Open the Placement tab and click Add in Theme Editor.

The theme editor opens your product page template. Add the Quantity discount table block by Alpha Sale, move it to where you want it (for example, under the price or above the Add to cart button), and click Save.

Back in Alpha Sale, the App block in Theme Editor section shows Placed. Open a product from your campaign and check the table.

If the app block doesn't work for your theme, turn on Alternative placement methods.

Two more options appear. Both need the Alpha Sale app embed to be on.

  • Manual placement via code snippet. To place the table exactly where you want it, add a code snippet to the section that renders your product page (for example, sections/main-product.liquid).

  • Placement via CSS selector. If adding a snippet doesn't work for you, contact us and we'll set up a CSS selector for your theme.

The app block always comes first. If the block is still in your product template, the alternative methods show Not used. To use them instead, remove the block in the theme editor.

2b. Add the table in a vintage theme

Vintage themes don't support app blocks, so the table is shown through the Alpha Sale app embed. Make sure the app embed is on, then click Activate on the table card.

For some popular vintage themes (Debut, Minimal, Venture and Supply), we've set up a CSS selector, so the table is placed automatically above the Add to cart form. Open a product page and check that the table appears where you want it.

For other themes, or if you want to place the block in a different place, you can do that with a code snippet:

  1. In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes → Edit code.

  2. Open your product template (for example, templates/product.liquid).

  3. Paste this code where the table should appear: <div class="alpha-sale-quantity-table"></div> and click Save.

  4. Back in Alpha Sale, click Recheck.

The snippet takes priority over the CSS selector. If you place the snippet, the CSS selector placement shows Not used.

If you can't add the snippet, contact us and we'll set up a CSS selector for your theme.

3. Check the status

The table card in Widgets shows one of these statuses:

  • Active: the table is on and placed in your theme.

  • Inactive: the table is off. Click Activate, or add the app block in the Theme Editor.

  • App embed off: the table needs the app embed, but it's disabled. Click Enable app embed.

  • Not placed: the table is on, but we couldn't find a place for it in your theme. Add it with the snippet, or contact us and we'll set up a CSS selector for your theme.

The Quantity discount table card in each quantity discount campaign shows the same status, with a link to fix it.

The table doesn't appear on a product page. Why?

Check these things:

  1. The table is off or not placed. Go to Widgets and check the status of the Quantity discount table.

  2. The campaign isn't active, or it's scheduled for later.

  3. The product isn't in the campaign, or it's excluded. Check Campaign targets and Campaign exclusions.

  4. The customer doesn't get the discount. If the campaign is for specific customers, customer tags or markets, the table is shown only to those customers. To test, log in to your store as such a customer.

  5. The collection isn't available on the Online Store sales channel (read more).

If none of this helps, contact us and we'll check your store.
