How it works
The Welcome Bonus is a one-time reward given to customers when they first qualify for your loyalty program. Points are added to their balance automatically and appear in their loyalty history inside the Loyalty Widget.
To qualify for the bonus, the customer needs to be registered by Shopify as a "Customer" and match your loyalty program's eligibility settings.
In practice, this means that after enabling the method:
New customers will start receiving this bonus upon their first sign-in to your website or their first purchase (this is when Shopify registers them as a customer).
Existing customers will have the bonus added upon their next loyalty-related activity on your website.
Setting up the rule
1. Specify points earned
Choose how many points customers will receive as a welcome bonus.
2. Customize widget texts
Configure the award title and description that will appear in the Loyalty Widget.
These two lines create the card for this earning method in the widget, letting customers know what they can earn.
3. Save your settings
Once saved, the rule applies automatically to all account registrations.
