Earning rule – Social media actions / Visit a link

With Alpha Loyalty, you can reward customers with loyalty points for engaging with your brand outside your store — on social media or by visiting specific links.

You can grant points when customers:

  • follow your brand on social platforms,

  • share your content,

  • or visit a URL you define.

This helps you grow your audience, increase engagement, and drive traffic.

  • Share on Facebook

  • Visit a link (any URL you choose)

Each action can be configured with its own point value and widget texts.

How it works

In the Loyalty Widget, customers see the actions you’ve set up (for example, following your Facebook page or sharing a link on X).

When a customer clicks an action:

  • the relevant social platform or link opens in a new browser tab,

  • the action is prefilled where possible (for example, the X sharing window opens with a default message and link to share).

Due to technical limitations of social media platforms, it’s not possible to reliably verify whether a customer actually followed, shared, or liked content.

For this reason social actions are tracked based on clicking the action button and you might want to manually check if the desired action actually happened. At this point, this approach is standard across loyalty apps as there is no technical way to automate the validation.

Things to keep in mind

  • Points are awarded when the customer clicks the action button, not based on confirmed follows or shares.

  • Each action can only be completed once per customer. Re-visiting a link, re-sharing content, or re-following a social account will not grant additional points unless you create a new action.

  • You can create multiple actions of the same type (for example, multiple Instagram follow actions for different accounts).

Setting up the rule

1. Choose the action type

Go to Alpha Loyalty's dashboard, click Add way to earn and choose any available action.

2. Add the destination

Enter the URL of the social profile, sharing link, or custom page you want customers to visit.

3. Specify points earned

Choose how many points customers will receive for completing the action.

4. Customize widget texts

Add a title and description that will appear in the Loyalty Widget, explaining what the customer needs to do and what they’ll earn.

These texts create the action card customers see in the widget.

5. Save your settings

Once saved, the action becomes immediately available in the Loyalty Widget.
