Guest mode vs. signed-in mode in the widget

Updated over 2 weeks ago

When a customer visits your store, Alpha Loyalty checks whether they are signed in to their account. Their experience in the loyalty widget will depend on this status.

Widget contents for guests

If the customer is browsing without signing in, the widget will appear in guest mode.

1. Loyalty program joining card

2. Points program card

Shown when there's an active points program on your website.

3. VIP program card

Highlights VIP tiers, showing tier names and requirements, with a link to view the details for each tier.

Widget contents for signed-in users

2. Rewards

5. History

Important: registered ≠ signed in

Guest mode is based on whether the customer is signed in, not whether they have an account.

For example, with new Shopify accounts, an account is created automatically after a customer’s first purchase. However, even though the account exists, the customer still needs to sign in with a secure code to view their points and rewards in the widget.
