When setting up rewards for your VIP program, you can choose whether they are applied automatically when a customer reaches a tier, or require the customer to manually redeem them through the Loyalty Widget.
Automatic Rewards
Automatic rewards are applied automatically on all qualifying orders once a customer reaches a VIP tier.
Customers don’t need to take any action - the system ensures the reward is applied in the cart and at checkout whenever the conditions are met.
In your tier settings, this rewards are marked with the "Automatic" label:
Important: Shopify allows up to 25 active automatic discounts per store. Once this limit is reached, no additional automatic discounts can be activated.
Manual Rewards
Manual rewards require the customer to redeem them through the Loyalty Widget once they unlock a VIP tier. This allows customers to choose when to use their rewards.
In the Loyalty Widget, they feature the Apply button so customers can redeem them at their convenience.
