Conditions for VIP tiers

Updated over 2 weeks ago

VIP tiers allow you to segment your most engaged customers and reward them with exclusive perks. To make your tiers meaningful and effective, Alpha Loyalty lets you define entry and retention conditions that reflect your business goals.

Available Conditions

When creating a VIP program, you can base eligibility on the following conditions:

1. Total Points Earned (requires an active points program)

Customers qualify once they have accumulated a set number of points.

Example: Earn 5,000 points to reach Gold Tier.

2. Lifetime Spend

Customers are promoted based on the total value of orders placed β€” including purchases made before the program was set up.

Example: Spend $1,000 overall to become a Platinum Member.

3. Lifetime number of Orders

Customers qualify once they have reached a minimum order count β€” also including orders placed prior to program setup.

Example: Place 10 orders to move into the Silver Tier.

How conditions work

  • One condition per program: Each VIP program is based on a single condition. If you want to use different criteria for different customer segments, you can create multiple VIP programs.

  • Automatic promotion: Once customers meet the condition, they are automatically moved into the tier and gain access to all benefits configured for that tier.

  • Ongoing status: Once achieved, a VIP tier is permanent β€” customers are not downgraded to lower tiers over time, unless a condition changes due to refunds or order cancellations. For example, if a tier is based on lifetime spend and a customer receives a $200 refund that drops their total spend below the tier threshold, they will be moved down. For tiers based on points, you must enable the option to deduct points for refunded or canceled orders for downgrades to take effect.
