The "Free product" reward allows customers to redeem loyalty points for a 100% discount on specific products in your store. This type of reward is highly engaging because it gives customers something tangible for their loyalty, and it’s also a great way to promote products you want to feature.
How it works
Customers redeem the reward in the Loyalty Widget by spending points.
You choose which products or collections are available as free rewards.
With the "Show product list for selection" option enabled:
Customers can add eligible products directly from the Loyalty Widget. If multiple variants or products are available, a simple selector appears so they can choose.
With the "Show product list for selection" option disabled:
Customers activate the reward in the Loyalty Widget by clicking Apply, but then need to browse your store and add the eligible product to the cart themselves. (Linking a collection in the widget description can make this easier.)
Step 1: Open program settings
Go to your Alpha Loyalty dashboard.
Open the program where you want to add the reward.
Click Add way to redeem -> Free product.
Step 3: Configure reward details
1) Point cost: Define how many points are required.
2) Eligible products: Choose which products or collections are eligible (using inclusion or exclusion rules).
3) Product selection in the Loyalty Widget: Enable or disable the option to select free products directly in the Loyalty Widget.
4) Minimum purchase amount: Order value required to use this reward (if any).
5) Discount combinations: Choose whether this discount can combine with shipping, product, or order discounts.
6) Widget texts: Add the title and description that will be displayed in the Loyalty Widget. You can also include a target link — for example, the URL of a specific product or collection — to guide customers directly to what’s eligible.
Step 4: Save and activate
Save your settings and activate the reward.
If the program this reward belongs to is also active, eligible customers will now see it in the Loyalty Widget and can redeem it according to your rules.
Things to keep in mind
Rewards apply to the order only if all conditions are met (e.g., minimum order value).
If different products should cost a different number of points, create a separate "Free product" reward for each.
100% discount code for the selected product is applied automatically at checkout. Even if a customer copies the code, it cannot be reused on another order — special parameters are required for the discount to work. This ensures security and prevents fraud.
If a customer activates the reward but doesn't complete a qualifying purchase, they can cancel the reward and get their points back.
