Earning rule – Celebrate a birthday

The “Celebrate a birthday” earning rule allows you to reward customers with loyalty points on their birthday. This is a simple but powerful way to build stronger relationships and show appreciation to your customers in a personal way.

How it works

Customers provide their birth date through the Loyalty Widget.


On the day of their birthday (based on your store’s timezone), the system automatically applies the reward and adds the configured points to their balance. The reward then appears in the customer’s loyalty history.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Enabling this rule applies retroactively. Customers who already submitted their birth date will automatically receive points on their next birthday once this rule is enabled.

  • To be eligible, customers must provide their birth date before 1:00 PM (store’s local timezone) on their birthday, since points are issued twice daily - once at 1:00 AM and once at 1:00 PM.

  • The system prevents multiple rewards in the same year - even if a customer changes their birthday, points can only be awarded once per calendar year.

Setting up the rule

1. Specify points earned

Choose how many points customers will receive on their birthday.

2. Customize widget texts

Configure the award title and description that will appear in the Loyalty Widget.

These two lines create the card for this earning method in your store, letting customers know what they can earn.

3. Save your settings

Once saved, the reward will be applied automatically for any customer who has shared their birthday in advance.
