How points work

Updated this week

Points are a virtual currency that your customers earn by engaging with your store and can later redeem for rewards. Points motivate repeat purchases, boost engagement, and give your customers a clear path to unlock benefits.

How customers earn points

Customers earn points when they complete activities you define, such as:

  • Purchases: Points awarded for placing orders

  • Account activities: Signing up for an account or celebrating a birthday

  • Marketing engagement: Subscribing to your newsletter

As the merchant, you control how many points each action is worth through your program settings.

When customers start earning points

Points are not assigned to past orders automatically. Customers start earning points only after you activate a points program in our app. From that point on, we track their activity and apply the rules you’ve set.

If you uninstall and reinstall the app later, you need to reactivate your programs.

Orders placed while the app was uninstalled or while no programs were active won’t count.

How customers use points

Points can be redeemed for rewards you set up in your loyalty program, such as:

  • Discount on future purchases

  • Gift cards

  • Free products

  • Free delivery

The process is simple and takes place inside the Loyalty Widget in your store:

When customers redeem a reward, the corresponding number of points is deducted from their balance.

Tracking points

Customers can view their current points balance and activity directly in the Loyalty Widget on your store.

At the same time, you can monitor all customer balances and histories from your customer dashboard, including details of points earned, spent, and any manual adjustments.

Important Notes

  • Points don’t have cash value: They are a loyalty currency valid only within your store.

  • Expiration rules: You can configure point expiration to encourage ongoing engagement (e.g., points expire after 6 months of inactivity).

  • Transparency matters: We recommend explaining in your program description how points are earned, redeemed, and if they expire, so customers know exactly how to use them.
