Before launching your loyalty program to the public, it’s crucial to ensure everything works exactly as intended. With Alpha Loyalty, you have several testing options to help you do just that.
1. Preview your widget on the storefront
If you want to see how the Loyalty Widget will appear to your customers, this is the quickest and easiest option.
To preview your widget:
1. Go to your Alpha Loyalty dashboard.
2. Find the “Preview” button under "..." on the main dashboard or More actions within a program’s settings.
Clicking Preview will open a private preview mode in a new browser tab.
Here, you can log in as any customer or preview the widget in guest mode:
This preview allows you to check:
How the widget’s colors match your website’s theme
Font sizes and readability
Overall appearance and layout
Note: This is a visual-only preview — you won’t be able to earn or redeem points in this mode.
2. Create a program limited to a test customer account
To test how your program actually functions - not just how it looks - you can make it go live, but restrict it to a test customer account.
To do this, follow these steps:
1. Choose or create a test store customer account in your system and assign them the “Test” tag.
2. In your program settings, limit participation to customers tagged with “Test”.
3. Set the program live.
Now, only your test user will see and interact with the program - giving you a safe environment to test everything in a real storefront context.
You can then manually edit the test customer’s points balance to test redemption or perform real activities (e.g., placing test orders, signing up, referring friends) to earn points.
For orders created using test payment methods points are awarded and recorded normally.
However, if you're testing how customers progress to higher VIP tiers (based on money spent or number of orders), these test orders will not count toward VIP tier progression.
To test VIP tier advancement, you’ll need to create test orders manually from the admin panel.
